The 1st Birthday Baa-aash!!

So the big day was a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't go without posting pics of that special day. To us it was more than just a birthday party for Sloan, Rocco, Madden & Jagger, it was a special celebration of their first year of life. Life...because in the beginning, we were told that the chances of coming home with all four babies were not great...and coming home with four healthy babies, well even worse. We know that our God is bigger than statistics. And yes, He could have chosen to take one, two or all of our children and we would have accepted that it was part of His plan. But He didn't. He gave us four healthy babies. We want to praise Him everyday, especially this day, and give Him all the glory.

The invitation

The food table

The birthday boys' and girl's special seats

The awesome cake
(made with love by G.G.)

the party hat smash cakes

Party favors: "Thank ewe for coming!" lamb cupcakes

The party was great. We were surrounded by lots of friends and family which is exactly how we wanted to celebrate the day. Unfortunately, I think our little ones were a little unsure of all the buzz or it could have been their change in schedule, but we didn't capture too many of those million dollar smiles we see so often everyday. All four babies were very cautious when digging into their cakes which was a little surprising to me. I was expecting them to dive right in judging they way they reach for and grab at their food at home. It took a little while, but they eventually got comfortable as you will see in the pics.

One guest of honor, Madden with Grandaddy

Daddy with birthday boy, Jagger

The princess mingling...thrilled, huh?

Family Pic
(Jagger, Sloan, Madden, and Rocco)

There's a smile!

The boys with their cute hats...we were trying to get Missy Ma'am to wear hers. She wasn't having it!

This was when we were singing Happy Birthday to Jagger (yes, we sang it four times)...the look he was giving everyone was priceless!

Madden: "Are you serious?"

Jagger liked it...and yes, that is only green icing in his nose!

That's the way Sloanie. Oh and of course, she had to have a wardrobe change to eat cake!

Roc: "Yummmmm...."

Momma and cake monster, Rocco

And Look who dropped by?!? The Tubre quads and their parents, Jac and Torey. Thanks for coming guys!
Now that's alot of babies!
(Nick with Madden & Jagger, Torey with Tyger and Cullen, Jac with Emma and Abby, Me with Sloan and Rocco)

A collage of other special guests

And once the big "kids" cleared off the jump-jump, we let the babies have a turn.

Nate (our nephew), Nick and Alicia

"Yeah, so what's the big deal?"

Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated with us. Special thanks to our friend and photographer, Chad Keith, for taking these priceless pictures for us. To G.G., thanks for all of your hard work with the party....thanks for helping to make the day super special for us! We love you.

Love,
Kami

Happy 1 Year!

Wow. One year ago today....such a wonderful day that changed our lives forever. For the first time, we met four little people that we love so much and now can't even imagine our lives without them. We have been so blessed. Soon (I promise), we will post pics from our 1st birthday celebration, but today I will leave you with these.

Can't Wait!

I've been quite the blogging bum lately, I know. But January for us has been full of sickies, new teeth, doctor appointments, sleepless nights, first birthday party planning, and I could go on and on. Tomorrow is finally the big birthday baa-aash! Their actual birthday is next Friday on the 12th, but we are celebrating tomorrow. As I sit here on their first birthday party eve, I can't help but get a little emotional thinking about the past year. I can remember when they were so tiny and still in the hospital all the "can't waits" we used to talk about. "I can't wait to hold my babies with no strings attached." (code for all the monitor wires, canulas, etc.) "I can't wait to bring them all home to Baton Rouge." "I can't wait til they start smiling and laughing." "I can't wait til they call me mama." "I can't wait til they lift their arms for me to pick them up." "I can't wait for their first birthday party!" Oh wow, we have come so far. And now that we are here, we have a whole new set of "can't waits." But really when it comes down to it, I can wait. I will wait. I want to wait.

Me (one year ago from today)

What a year.

Kami

Hello 2010!

We brought the new year in with a bang...well, if you call me being in bed by 9:45 a bang! It is much more of a treat to have the babies back on schedule (in bed by 7:30) and have them sleeping through the night again than to go out with my festive clutch and high heels! Besides, I would have been going out solo because the hubs went on a shotgun trip with my dad and brothers to the Capital One Bowl game in Orlando. They left on Thursday around noon and were home this morning around 3am. Oh and did I mention they drove? All for the love of those Tigers.

The game didn't end as hoped but at least they had good seats...

They even made it on TV!

So since Nick wasn't around for a New Years kiss, I had to find somebody else to take his place. It wasn't too hard.

My four New Year's kisses

Bringing in the new decade

Party like a princess!

What does 2010 have in store for us? I can't believe in just six short weeks the babies will be turning 1! And I guess we will soon find out what raising four 1-year-olds is really like. Lord help us! Oh yeah, and Sloan wants to bring the rat tail back in 2010.

Any takers? C'mon...it's cool. :)

So here's to fewer sad faces...

and more happy faces...
lots of laughs...and more bubble baths!
Love,
Kami

Goodbye 2009!!!

As it is coming to an end, I have been reflecting on the events of this last year. Other than the death of Michael Jackson and the dreadful swine flu pandemic(and countless other happenings in '09 - which you all know about), they are many reasons why I will remember the year 2009:
  • For four months, I lived away from the only home I've ever known
  • I'm pretty sure it's the only year that I started with the thought, "I'm going to gain as much weight as possible!"
  • I held, kissed and looked into the eyes of each of my four beautiful and healthy babies
  • I watched the man I love become an incredible daddy
  • I heard the sweetest laughter from my children's lips
  • I learned what it means to love deeper than I ever thought was possible
  • I was humbled by the generosity, love and support of my family and friends (and some strangers too!)
But what I will remember MOST about 2009:
  • The year my dreams came true! I love you Sloan. I love you Rocco. I love you Madden. I love you Jagger. I love you Nick. Thank you Lord for my precious family.
"Lookout 2010, here we come!"

May you all have a blessed New Year!

Love,
Kami

Our First Christmas

Well, we started the week off with ear infections and nasty colds/coughs. I can say it wasn't an ideal first Christmas because of the sickness, but it was still wonderful and my best Christmas to date! Our festivities started with the Rogers (my) family and ended with the Lambes - actually we are still enjoying the company of Nick's family that is in from out of town. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service at church this year, but we did use our dimmer light switch and listen to O Holy Night on the radio which was my attempt to create our own Christmas Eve service. As if Christmas with our beautiful, healthy quads wasn't exciting enough, we also learned that our family will increase by two more next year. NO...I'm not pregnant...but my brother, Travis, and his wife Sissy are expecting their third along with my cousin Jana and her hubby Casey expecting their first. So exciting! Last year we were saying..."just wait til next year!" and this year we are saying "just wait til next year!" I have a feeling Christmases around here are just going to get better and better with each year.

In quaddie news, Sloan is officially crawling...Jagger is oh so close. Sloan also is saying ma-ma and da-da all the time, and in my opinion it is the sweetest sound! And her latest milestone....she pulled up to her feet on Christmas day. Rocco and Jagger both have two teeth on the bottom and top. Madden has two on bottom and 1 on top. These crazy boys are still only rolling one way and are not crawling yet but will get up on their knees. Unofficial weights...Sloan & Rocco - about 22 lbs, Jagger - almost 20lbs, and Madden - almost 19 lbs. Sloan has proven to be the rock star sleeping baby...she goes down and she's golden. The boys have been giving us trouble with sleeping lately, but I am thinking it was teething first then their ear infections that are causing the sleepless nights. Hopefully, we will be getting a little more shut-eye around here soon!

I put together this montage of our first Christmas together. It does include some pictures from the weeks leading up to Christmas. Hope you had a Merry Little Christmas with yours!

Love,
Kami
